General

  • We love pets, but unfortunately we’re not able to accommodate them on our tours for safety and comfort reasons. As for pet boarding, we recommend that you get in contact with Naikoon Pet Services in Masset.

  • Haida Style operates with two large vessels:

    • 30-foot Aluminum Catamaran Tour Vessel, Features a Heated Enclosed Cabin, Onboard Bathroom, and Spacious Open Deck.

    • 30-foot Aluminum Landing Craft Tour Vessel, Equipped with a Heated Enclosed Cabin, an 8×10 Deck for easy access and comfort, and Bathroom.

    Both vessels are well-maintained, comfortable, and designed to provide a smooth and enjoyable journey on the water.

    Throughout the day, guests will have access to the on board toilet that is located inside both vessels. As well as outhouses at majority of the village sites.

  • Come prepared with layers, as the weather can change quickly out on the water.

    It’s best to pack warm items, rain gear, stable footwear, and comfortable clothing.

  • Absolutely! We offer private and custom tours. It’s best to contact our team via email or cell phone to chat about options and begin the planning process.

 

Booking and Reservations

  • When booking with Haida Style, there are a few important things to keep in mind:

    • Stay Flexible. Weather and ocean conditions on Haida Gwaii can shift quickly, and at times tours may need to be rescheduled for safety.

    • Looking to tour with us more than once? Let our office manager know so we can plan accordingly and ensure you have the best possible experience on both days.

    • Stay in the loop. Communication is essential, and our team will stay in touch leading up to your tour. Please watch out for updates closer to your tour date.

  • Visit our booking page and choose the tour dates that work best for you. Our booking system will have all the details and if you need assistance please contact our office manager.

  • Absolutely! We are happy to accommodate larger groups. If its for a select tour, you can book directly on our website. However, if it’s a custom tour booking, please contact our office and we will assist you to ensure your journey is comfortable and memorable.

  • Our tours often fill quickly, so we recommend booking as early as possible to secure your preferred tour and dates.

  • If you missed out on the booking of your choice, please contact our office manager to be put on the waitlist.

  • Yes, we do recommend purchasing travel insurance. It can provide peace of mind in case of unexpected changes, delays, or cancellations.

 

Payment and Pricing

  • Your tour price includes:

    • Time to explore with your guide

    • Sightseeing for birds and marine life on the vessel

    • Refreshments (Coffee, tea, water) and baked goods.

    • Traditional style lunch

    • Gwaii Haanas Visitors Fee.

  • Our booking system accepts:

    • Visa

    • Mastercard

    • AMEX

    If you have any other questions about payment methods, feel free to contact our office.

  • A deposit of 25% is required at booking to confirm your reservation. The remaining balance is charged on the day of your tour.

 

Tours & Experiences

  • Our tours are primarily offered in English, with Haida language included throughout the day by our guides.

  • We offer full day tours which vary in timing, however, typically the vessels are leaving the wharf bright and early between 7-9am while returning around 4-6pm in the evening.

  • Haida Gwaii weather can be unpredictable at times so it’s best to pack layers for your day out on the water. Please refer to our Packing List for more details.

  • Our maximum capacity is 12 guests.

  • Guests will meet at the Daajing Giids Wharf where they’ll find the Haida Style Trailer and Staff, just down Causeway Street. For more information visit our Getting Here page.

  • Our tours depart from the Daajing Giids Wharf, unless otherwise noted. While we don’t provide pre-tour transportation, our team is happy to assist you in finding the best way to reach the departure point.

 

Safety & Accessibility

  • We have multiple safety measures in place:

    • All staff are certified in Wilderness First Aid.

    • PFDs are provided for all guests and each vessel has lifejackets on board.

    • Tours follow operational safety protocols.

    • Weather and sea conditions are monitored continuously.

    • Emergency procedures are in place and regularly reviewed.

  • Our tours require a moderate level of mobility, including being able to board the vessel, comfortable moving around the boat, and walking through uneven terrain at the village sites.

    If you’re unsure, we’re more than happy to discuss any mobility concerns or questions and help assess whether the tour will be suitable for you.

  • Absolutely. Our tours can be enjoyed by children, adults, and seniors. If you have specific mobility needs or concerns, please contact our office. We are happy to help you determine if the tour is a good fit.

  • For dietary restrictions, we do our best to accommodate requests, however, living on a remote island means our resources can sometimes be limited, and it may not always be possible. Typically, our meals include local protein as listed above (which can be GF) along with a seasonal salad, rice, and potatoes. Snacks vary depending on availability.

    If you have any allergies, please let our office staff know when booking, our team will do its best to share what we can provide and offer guidance on anything you may want to bring along.

Cancellation & Refunds

  • In completing your booking form, we require a 25% deposit to secure your seats.  The balance is due the day of your tour. HSE can process Visa/MC/AMEX remotely using Square.

    If you cancel...

    • More than 60 days prior to your tour, HSE will refund your deposit.

    • Less than 60 days prior to your tour, HSE will keep your 25% deposit.

    • Less than 30 days prior to your tour, HSE will charge you the remainder of the amount owing. Provided we can fill your seat(s) we will not charge the balance owing.

    In the event the weather is extreme and conditions do not allow for your trip to happen we will refund you.
