Getting Here

Welcome!

Interact with our google map to see what options there are when visiting Haida Gwaii

  • Take the inside passage from Port Hardy, BC on Vancouver Island to Prince Rupert, BC then directly to Skidegate, BC with BC Ferries.

  • Fly from Vancouver, BC to Sandspit, BC via Air Canada or through Pacific Coastal to Masset, BC.

Getting around the island?

Below we have a list of local recommendations for car rentals during your stay.

Just looking for a ride to or from the airport?

  • Book a seat on the Airport Shuttle Bus from DG or Sandspit, clean, friendly, and local.

Staying connected

Living on a remote island, we appreciate the beauty of being “out of service”. We encourage you to unplug and experience the island’s unique features the same way.

  • Since our tours take up the majority of the day, please make any necessary arrangements for personal matters or pets, as we will be out of cell range.

Accommodation

Our recommendations for different communities across Haida Gwaii are listed below in order of closest to furthest from Daajing Giids Wharf.

Skidegate (Hlgaagilda)

Jags: Stay at the lovely Jags, a luxurious accommodation right in Skidegate with a lovely cafe open weekdays for breakfast & lunch. Running since 2006 as a small coffee shop in their home, to now a staple community cafe and guest house. If you are looking for a place with a view, food, and comfort, Jags is for you.

10 minute drive to Daajing Giids Wharf.

Tlell (Tl’laal Kun)

Haida Gwaii Glamping Co: Visit our friends lovely property located up in Tlell right on the beach. They offer several comfortable glamping tents with all the amenities, hot tub, breakfast, and more. If you are looking for something cozy and don’t feel like ruffing it, this option is for you, only a 45 minute drive to Daajing Giids.

Haida House Tllaal: Stay at one of HaiCo’s two properties, where Haida ownership ensures an authentic experience featuring locally inspired cuisine, a commitment to cultural preservation, and operations guided by Yahguudang (Respect).

Masset (Gaw Tlagée)

Hielen Village Longhouses: Located on North Beach and owned by the Old Massett Village Council, the beautiful Hielen Longhouses offer a chance to stay local and support the community that gives back to Haida Gwaii’s tourism industry. Choose from fully equipped longhouses, tent pads, or bring your RV for a comfortable stay.

2 hour drive to Daajing Giids Wharf.

Ocean House Tlaga Gawtlaas: The second HaiCo property located in Old Masset, key features being their boutique style, waterfront property, in house dining and spa options. Operating under the same values as Haida House.
